Job description:
Financial planning and control, formulation and implementation of financial policy and providing effective commercial support in meeting the Corporation’s goals of maximizing profits and shareholder wealth.

Establish, monitor and update systems and procedures in all areas from the financial control angle to ensure that they are effective, and achieve the Corporation’s objective at the minimum cost.

To oversee the prepration of short, medium and long term corporate plans and budgets and monitor their ahievement through and effective Management Information System.

To manage effective utilization of funds, both long term (project finance) and short term ( working capital).

To provide effective evaluation of proposals for new assets, new projects as well as the efficacy of existing investments and projetcs.

To monitor, review and advice on the Corpotration’s investments and on prospective investment opportunities.

To oversee the prepration of quarterly and annual financial statements of the Corporation.

To maintain an effective communication with the CMA, MSM and the shareholder community on all financial information to be placed in the public domain.

To ensure compliance with satutory regulations/ requirement of the CMA, MSM etc.

To keep abreast of the latest developments in financial area.

To ensure appropriate implementation of port tarrif and participate in the negotiation of charges to port users.

Cost control and cost reduction in all areas of operation of the Corporation.

Monitoring the productivity and efficiency of all areas of operations by quantifying and evaluating actual performance against standards.

To ensure that effective IT Systems are in place for smooth and efficient functioning of the Finance Department.

To provide financial advice on the distribution of profits, dividend policy, gearing and related areas.

To evaluate all agreements entered into by the Corporation from the commercial/ financial angle.

To participate in negotiations with vendors, contracrtors, customers and other parties dealing with the Corporation – including negotiations with Govt. Agencies on financial transactions between the Corporation and such Agencies.

To oversee the various MIS reports prepared by the Finance Department.

To evaluate and recommend proposals for outsourcing of selsected functions based on cost benefit analysis.

To effectively liaise with consultants on assignments and studies undertaken on behalf of the Corporation.

To participate in special projects, assignments and commities as may be directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

To effectively coordinate and cooperate with other management members as a team to achieve the Corporation’s goals and objectives.

To carry out any other duties and assignments as may be directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
